The inside depth of the 656 mesh fencing clip is 8mm. 

As the outside of the vertical wire on a 656 mesh fencing panel is 11mm (6mm + 5mm) away from the fencing post once positioned, the 8mm inside clip depth offers good compression against the panel and a secure fit.

656 mesh fencing clips are simple and easy to use.

Once the fencing panels are held up against the post, the clips can be placed over the top and secured in place using an M8 fixing bolt (bolts sold separately).

Typically fencing posts for 656 mesh fencing will include threaded M8 inserts at various points on the front of the posts (positions and quantites will vary depending on the fencing height).
